Area Covered:The city of Brighton and Hove and the surrounding area which includes Brighton Marina Village, Portslade, Preston, Withdean, Hollingbury, Patcham, Coldean, Stanmer, Falmer, Bevendean, Woodingdean, Ovingdean, Rottingdean, Saltcombe and Peacehaven.
Where:Situated between the Sussex South Downs and the English Channel, the city of Brighton and Hove is affectionately and disparagingly referred to as London-on-Sea. Indeed Brighton and its sister Hove, do offer an amazing number of great places to eat and stay. Brighton, on the eastern side of the city is perhaps the hub of all things to do, see, eat, drink, sleep and stay. Whilst Hove (actually) is rather more suburban.
Why Visit:If you like an abundance of buzz in your life, then Brighton and Hove has got it all; culture, shopping, restaurants, nightlife and of course, the beach. Wander through the Laines and discover hundreds of quirky, individual shops selling clothes, shoes, art, antiques, jewellery, furniture and strange but funny gizmos and gimmicks. Take a walk under the seafront arches and visit Brighton's artist's quarter where you'll find studios full of original works. Take a bike ride along the seafront from Brighton's east pier all the way past Hove and let the wind whizz through your hair whilst you marvel at the Regency architecture. Whatever your interest, Brighton and Hove has it somewhere!
Places of Interest:In Brighton we recommend visiting the Brighton Pavillion, the Victorian arches down on the seafront, the Laines and Komedia for its comedy and caberet. In Hove we recommend the county cricket ground and Hove Museum and Art Gallery. Outside the city we recommend visiting the Grange Museum and Gardens in Rottingdean, the one-time home of Rudyard Kipling. For lovers of horse-racing Brighton's racecourse is situated high on the downs with fantastic views.
